On this day in 1989, ABC aired the series finale of Dynasty. The show was originally conceived to compete with the CBS primetime hit, Dallas. In 1985, Dynasty was the No. 1 show on television in the United States. The series declined considerably in popularity during its final two seasons, and it was ultimately cancelled in the spring of 1989.In 1993 - Eric Forrester (John McCook) married crazy Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) on The Bold and the Beautiful.

In 2006 - Emily O'Brien made her soap opera debut in the role of Jana Hawkes on The Young and the Restless. O'Brien was on Y&R for five years and received three Daytime Emmy Nominations for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series. She currently plays the role of Gwen Rizczech on Days of our Lives.
